Narrative description of Project

The project involves

• Reviving the water bodies and to rejuvenate its eco system, the Government of Tamil Nadu had announced to restore about 214 km of waterways which includes creeks and estuaries and 42 water bodies in Chennai Metropolitan Area by desiltation, interception and diversion of sewage, scientific solid waste management, embankment protection, development of walkways for public use and other works / activities as required under the aegis of the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust (CRRT).

The project scope includes

• Detailed Topographical Survey
• Assessment of Existing Sewerage & Solid Waste management near to creek.
• Assessment of Soil Quality & water Quality.
• Study the quantity of waste water flow discharge in to creek.
• Study of Flora and Fauna.
• Identification of non-point source of pollutants affecting the water quality in the creek.
• Study the Industrial pollution including hazardous and Toxic waste.
• study on coastline usage details, tidal incursion and mangroves, documentation/ Reports of Sand bar formation, records of past dredging activities including extent and depth.
• Environmental and Social Screening including Environmental & Social categorization and assessment
• Preparation of Social Impact assessment reports.
• Stake Holders Consultation
• Environment Impact Assessment.
• Preparation of cost benefit analysis
• Preparation of financial Plan for the implementation of the projects identified.
